Parenting is art and science, skills and guts, intentional and accidental. It is absolutely the most difficult and most important obligation we will ever face; and, given the natural progression of things, it will be the longest-lasting responsibility we will ever be assigned.

We only have one chance to be a parent to each child we have. It's up to us to be committed to this task, to learn to do it well, to be conscious when we interact with a child, to get it as "right" as we can. This is not a dress rehearsal for any of us: it is about life itself and living it well while we've got it. Each life is a finite gift we have been given; and with that gift come choices to make and consequences to accept.
